Upgraded wheels and tyres for Aircooled Brick

Hi Guys!
I am thinking of upgrading my westy to either 15 or 16 inch mefros. I have a 2.0 Aircooled CU engine and dont want to put more strain on the engine but I feel for aesthetic and tyre availability I think it would be a good upgrade.
If anyone has done this or could tell me there set up it would be great.
Tyre wise I would like a best of both world not a full off road tire but also something that will get me out of the mud!
