Companies that refurbish wheels can repair that by welding I think?

Yeah it is possible and an option, some say the repair can be as strong as original however others say not.

Waiting to here back from the dismantles I bought from but I may just source another wheel if it can be done for not much more than the cost of repair.

Since this is the thread for all things Merc wheel related, maybe you guys can help…

I have a set of 16x6.5 AMG Mercedes Penta wheels that I’d really like to use on our Syncro Atlantic… I say a set, what I actually have is 3 wheels… and I need to track down a 4th (and ideally 5th! :o )

I bought them thinking I would be able to pick up a loose rim somewhere, but alas they seem to be super rare… any one got any suggestions where to find one/a set?

I’ve been lucky enough to source a replacement, I may get the split one tigged at a later date for a spare.

As for sourcing another penta…. You may get lucky but may take a while. If you can get the original part number you are best setting up a search string on eBay (including Germany) with both that and a description.

Something like “(penta, 123456789, 16x6.5 Mercedes, 5 spoke Mercedes)” then add to saved searches so it will alert you to any new additions.

But to be honest I don’t think you will find any bargains. Unless you have your heart set on them you may be better selling them off individually due to the silly money they seem to fetch and source something different.

In order to drop revs cruising ...I bought merc w124 rims.... 15" steel...  put 215 .70 R15
theyre a tight fit tyre wise but I gained the radius..! and bolt straight on the rear...and make a massive difference....!
Im diving an ex Dutch army ,was a 1.7 D....
Its now a 1.9 TDI.... Very labourious long story......I made engine brackets that bolt to standard mountings to Overcome the "clash" with the turbo (the cast aluminium bracket in bin...!).....
Sorry Im straying from the merc wheels... so they bolt straight on the back..having remove drum retainer bolts!!!!
Experiment, seeming succesful Ive , tried them on the front...just that bit too big..tight..so Im going to go with 20mm spacers...Studs for the rear..extended.....scream if you like...But there is a kit for the sporty clio.. £2.00 a stud cheaper=£20.....14x1.5x 65..with 15mm Spline...
I have a friend who works in laser cutting making me spacers....
Being part way through this....."fairly succesfully..!)
I add I use a Smaller Golf steering wheel....Bit heavy..as is...on 14/195.....but you get used to keeping the van on move....
Im looking at an electric power steering system.....Biggies and betters on the front and extra width...are sure to make a difference....
As Ive written the rear has been straight forward....Ive gone Big as Poss on rear to change gearing but would like to match all round for simplicity..or emergency.....

Anyone tried/done same!....Wheels tyres...??

And the power steering.....Anyone fitted this...?..

All advice gratefully recieved....and naturally...Any I can return....!!

Happy Camping!!!

Before changing to the above I had et31 merc steels with 205/70/15 all round, no spacers, no clearance issues. So maybe worth considering for the front?

215/65/16, same as i have fitted now.

these centre caps for a trailer were linked to in another post-

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324282481016 ... media=COPY

i measured the centre bore as 71mm with calipers, these caps are 72mm.  can anyone confirm they fit? just bash em in? :ok

I ended up using something similar to above, removed the chrome merc badge and fitted domed VW ones.

Before I fitted spacers there was a slight rub from speedo drive but that was easily sorted by relieving cap a little with dremel.

I went with 205/65/16 and although technically no rub I ended up doing stud conversion up front with 6mm spacer, longer studs and 10mm on rear.

i need to crack the rear hubs off again and get the longer studs pressed in.  i do have some spacers too which ill try out.

might end up with the same caps you linked to :)

I've got some tollimans off the syncro to put on our van.
The current tyres are 205/80r16 104s but they are junk.

Wondering what tyre sizes you guys have on yours.
