Only Mercedes rims in here!

Post by weegaz22 »

There are so many fantastic Mercedes wheels, that i thought it needed it's own dedicated thread.

Show me your Mercedes-Benz metal goodness!

If you can also add in information about the wheels to let others know if they were just a direct bolt on replacement or if they needed modification like bigger a centre bore, spacers, spigot ring, longer wheel studs, bolts holes enlarging etc

also listing rim size, width, offset and tyre sizes would also help

Ideally what the plan is if we get enough pics of Merc rims on T25's then Mocki says the thread will be stickied and kept up as a database for all members to be able to view :ok

I'll Start, this isn't my van but this is just to get the thread off to a rolling start as an example

Mercedes steel rims (7J 15 ET25) from the 80s W126 S-Class. Staight fit, no spacers only different radius on the nuts/bolts (R12 instead of VW's R14).
Image
Good size for a wide range of AT tires and if you get a set from Kronprinz (marked KPZ6222A) then you also have a proper 700kg load rating (I know this detail is widely ignored in UK but it's important in Germany)

Hey Titus,
don't mean to hijack this thread for problems that people from the UK have never had but: these rims are a straight fit (apart from the nuts/bolts) and are 15" which means your choice of tires is much larger than with the standard 14" ones. Since the load rating in Germany is mucho important for the TÜV/Dekra engineers these rims have become quite popular for the T25. The original Mercedes parts number is 1264002802. However, there were three different manufacturers that produced steel rims for Mercedes at that time (Lemmerz, Südrad and Kronprinz). Only Kronprinz marketed their rims both for use on the S-Class Mercedes and for use on Trailers. That is why they issued a document that states that the wheel can take certain loads up to certain speeds. While all three manufacturors have a load rating of 560-590kg with no speed limit, only Kronprinz states that they will do 700kg up to 130Km/H and even more (I'd have to look it up) up to 100Km/H.

With this document, most of the T25 guys I know had no problems getting the wheels accepted/eingetragen. In my case, I had to go to a second TÜV station: the first one I asked was really knowledgeable: He told me I might as well wipe my behind with the document from Kronprinz as it does not state what size tires it was tested with and as the load rate depends on the overall diameter of the wheel,... blablabla. I actually called Kronprinz and asked them about this. They told me that the rule requiring the manufacturors to state the tire size is from 1999 ans since they stopped producing that specific rim years earlier they would certainly not try to obtain new documents for it. They told me the TÜV engineer was obviously a narrowminded pr*ck and I should go to an other TÜV station. I followed their advice and had no problems there at all - all legal now :D

The essence of my long expanation is: even if the wheels from the other two manufacturers might be just as strong as the Kronprinz ones are, they have no document to prove it so - at least in Germany - you should look for wheels with the KPZ 6222A branding

E D I T: I could send you the Kronprinz document if you want
Cheers, André

I run on the same rims. Hard to beat them for increased overall circumference (improves gearing) and greater choice of tyres. Easier to maintain than alloy too. I've got two sets in fact :) Choose the wrong seller and they can cost well over £200 a set. Use your noddle and you can get them for £20 a set.

These are Kromag 5x112 steels made for Mercedes (supposedly for early Sprinters).

They are 16"x7.5J and et45. They are a heavy duty TUV approved rim available new at 82 Euros.

Maybe not quite what you want on here , I'm after advice about Merc rims rather than giving it , sorry . Anyway. I have CLK lightweight alloys all ready to fit, but don't know what spacers, studs sizes to the rear & bolts to the front. I'm thinking 215/65/15 tyres. wheels are 15 x7 PCD 5/112 ET 37. I'm really confused by all the options and would appreciate a few pointers. Once I have sorted the right options and fitted them I will post what Ive have done and how they are. Thanks.

I use the Toliman 16 x 7 with 205/80/16 Kumho A/T venturer tyres with 10mm spacers front and back on my Syncro (I think 10mm spacers but may be 6mm) great fit. On my 2WD I use 7.5 x 16 Tolliman with the bigger offset and 20mm spacers front and back and 215/60/16 tyres, again great fit and looks.
