If they're alloys you'll need the correct bolts.

Yep I agree Covkid, I'm totally committed to fitting the correct nuts/bolts. :ok
But up until i'd posted my last question, the only ones I could manage to find on the 'tinternet' were the 'open' wheel nuts offered by Simon for nearly £4.00.
But I have now since seen the chome 'closed' ones he also does, ..and for a much more affordable price.
Which just means I now need to check to see whether I will need extened wheel studs to suit the alloys, and whether their length is comapatble with the 'closed' cap chrome nuts. ...if that all make sense?

I was secretely kinda hoping Slowcoach may have found a more affordable alternative supplier of some suitable raduised wheel nuts/bolts, ...of reputable quality of course!

Hi there,
DSorry ive been ill for a few days- i looked back at where i got mine from, and it was ebay seller http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/cbeaney1. the link itself has gone, but i found them to be very helpful. I ordered one front (bolt) and one rear (closed nut) to check first. they were between £1.50 and £1.99 each still.

i dont know anything about alloys mind you, but i guess the same applies...

Just fitted 215 65 16 suv tyres rated at 98 on audi ten spoke alloys with 20mm spacers taking the offset to25. They fit without enlarging the centre bore but have had to get creative with speedo drive. New shocks as well. Just been round the block and the drivability factor is vastly improved although being a 1.6 td there is a bit of a gap 1st to second turning out of a side road up hill. At about 40 it sounds so much more relaxed and I found that I held 4th for longer because it doesnt sound rushed. Not syncroenvy but the spare is probable going to get hung off the back.

:rofl

Aye is amazing how much improvement you get to the gearing when you're in the 30-50 range. :D

The only downside perhaps is the wheels are heavier to handle if you have to remove them for any reason.

Partly why its getting hung off the back although the alloys are noticably lighter thab the 14 inch steels. Thanks for all the great info on here and especially this thread. Just need to sort the bed cushion covers out and if theres time a new set of seat with height adjust and gill can drive it.

Update:

It's in for welding (off side sill and both steps) and we had come up with a plan to hang the spare off the back but the nice man who does my welding has made up a new underslung hanger that takes the bigger wheel. Very neat. I will work out the photo posting on here , once again, and stick some on .

They look great but wow they are expensive for a steel wheel? Be cheaper to get my granada alloys sorted.

Was tempted until I googled the price 430quid for a set :o

Hi all.

First post is a small cry for help. Just got a 1985 T25 light van. Its got 16 inch Merc Steels and a lowering spring kit.
Appreciate any advice on what tyre pressures to use.

It is a daily runner and rides well but driving in London on speed bumps is too bumpy for my liking though the 2 year old loves it and asks for more.

Thanks,
M
