Seat Belts in an Autosleeper VT20 (U shaped seating)

Post by matada34 »

Hi,

Ive spent many hours now sofa surfing different models and layouts to try and determine an original layout for my first T25. Im a complete newbie so theres alot to learn.
I keep coming back to the VT20 Autosleeper with the wrap around seating, I like the fact it gives a good amount of seating, bigger bed and smaller kitchen. Initially the van will be used for day trips and picnics with the family.

I like to keep things original but the next bit is going a bit off the beaten track......
The roof on the autosleeper is pretty slim, Ive had thoughts of putting a viking roof on (if I can find one) or the replacement Westfalia type. Main reason is so the little ones have a useable roof, then later in life when they have had their time up there the original would go back on.

Anyway, the main reason for this post is about seat belts, can the VT20 with wrap around (U shaped) seating have seat belts fitted, ideally proper 3 point belts?
I hear differeing opinions!

If anyone also has any advice, or do's dont's or other layouts that may be suitable please feel free to let me know!

Thanks Matt

Have a look at these places for some ideas

They look like they can fit seatbelts in most layouts but I'd probably be more worried about the construction of the seats themselves. I just replaced my Autosleeper (VHT - high top) plywood rear bench seat with a metal framed rock n roll bed and have 2x 3-point belt fitted.

This blog also has a link at the bottom to a seat belt frame you bolt to the chassis, not suitable for my layout but might suit yours
