Registering as a camper

Just looking through the criteria for changing a van to a campervan and noticed this. Now a lot of campers have one of those things on the floor that a table leg sits it and the top sits on that. Have the rules changed?

they shall be an integral part of the vehicle living accommodation area, mounted independently of other items

a table mounting arrangement shall be secured as a permanent feature, although the table top may be detachable

Why bother trying as DVLA are refusing all changes to Motor Caravan now, if for speed limits you have to appeal your NIP and show that you are fitted out as a campervan, what it says on the V5 is irrelevant for the higher speeds permitted as a campervan. Insurance companies can be found that accept the van as a campervan without DVLAs V5.

A mate is converting a van to a camper and I was going to let him have the bits I mentioned, but if the base needs to be a permanent fixture they would not be of any use to him.

Just noticed syncropatrick posted this in the what have you done to your van thread. Is he wasting his time if they are not accepting van to camper changes?

Put camper interior v2 in and Fiamma awning back on, and took photos for DVLA to change registration to a campervan.

Yep! Complete waste of time. DVLA want a change of body external appearance so that it looks more like a coachbuilt motorhome before they will change body type to Motor Caravan.
There are 44 pages about it here  https://www.t6forum.com/threads/v5-docu ... ost-344353  together with the latest refusal.
