Best (?) compressor cool box

Post by Michael4 »

I know this subject has come up before but what is the current favourite when it comes to compressor cool boxes?

Some of these seem seriously expensive so any suggestions regarding 'unknown' brands very welcome.

I should add that I am looking for one where the compressor runs on 12v not just 240v, if such a thing exists.

Hi,
We have one of these working well so far, 12vDC & 240vAC.
also has battery protection.

The tape handels are my addition as the original ones were a bit bulky
used the same fixing bolt holes.

I think I may have seen one of those in the flesh. Does the compressor run when only on 12v?

Hi
yes works fully on 12v capable of -18c

I think the low battery protection is also settable to different levels
T
he compressor is probably 12v with a built-in transformer for when on 240v. Although that's only a guess as I’ve not taken it apart (yet).
I’ve used it in a tent for a couple of days with a spare car battery works fine.

Regards Gary

Hi Michael4
The unit is a coolfreeze CF-40.

Sorry label is a bit tatty as it is underneath.

A rough idea of the size.

The original handle took up to much space so I replaced it with tape, (forgot to take a photo of the handle before I removed it so just put in place for illustration).

Hope this helps.

We had a CF-110 that I bought secondhand, it was a massive beast but the thermocouple failed while we were on tour the first time we used it (so the fan would cycle all night and it over cooled the contents)
Always carry a spare one, they are cheap and field replaceable.
