I was considering vinyl for mine instead of the carpet tiles just so to make it easier to clean, If you do opt for vinyl would consider a non slip bathroom type as getting in and out of the van does introduce muck and dirt making the surface slippery.

Good quality cushion flooring is worth the effort, let’s face it you don’t need more than a meter by a meter and a half
I have 7mm rubber on the floor in my van , it’s very cold to the tootsies , so over that I have foam rubber tiles that interlock

We will be fitting lightweight plywood flooring covered in “Altro Flooring” this stuff is really hard-wearing and is available in different thicknesses, then on top of that, we have a rubber backed removable carpet/mat cut to size.
Some of it is done but I can't fit the flooring properly until both hatches have been cut so no Altro yet.
Sorry, no photo of the Altro Flooring yet.

There’s the start of our write-up here more when the work is completed, (sorry the link doesn’t work on some computers I still need to fix it).

Just for interest:
We recently fitted the living area of our van with B&Q carpet tiles. They stay in place if trapped by good fit or can be kept in place with carpet tape. They pass Mrs Bean's "van proud" test and are hard wearing and warm underfoot plus slip free and can be replaced piecemeal if/as required. Probably not for the "classic" fan but easy to fit and look surprisingly smart!

I’m liking the concealed batteries under the floor was that there when you got the van or your own addition?

It was my idea and mod, but I think others have already done it to their vans before me.
Eventually, there will be a second box, but that requires modifying the handbrake linkage rerouting pipework and a cable gear change system, so a work in progress at the moment.
There are few photos of the installation & the start of the write up here.

I’m sorry the site throws up warnings on some computers when logging in, and doesn’t seem to work at all on tablet or mobiles (to the best of my knowledge the site is safe but I don’t know how to fix the warning and accesses problems, yet).

Regards Gary

we have a ply floor topped with vinyl (with raised circle pattern and matt finish).  Its nice and grippy and very hard wearing.

winchweight used the jigsaw foam flooring tiles in his - I like the idea, warm to the touch and soft when kneeling in - may go with this next time

Two packs of stick on floor tiles, directly to the wooden floor worked for me. Foil bubble wrap under the wood for additional insulation. Beats boring old chequered pattern!Image

We had a rubbish OSB floor, with cheap lino over the top. It was too high and covered part of the heater output:

When I ripped it up, the original floor was under it:

I bought some carpet, and very carefully (it took hours) got it exactly the right size and shape.

The carpet is much nicer than any lino/vinyl tile flooring.
