Leisuredrive - What's the flat bit for?

Post by Tropical Pete »

I've got a 1984 T25 with a leisuredrive high top. The top itself has a flat area towards the back (see the picture) with what appears to be drainage channels on either side. My first thought was that it was for extra storage but there seems to be no anchor points to strap luggage too. Has anyone any idea what the flat bit is for?
Cheers.

do you have a picture of one with a rack as I've never come accross one. also, how would you attach a rack - by bolting into the fibreglass?

As Davidoft say. Luggage area. Often with a chrome rail. Are your sure its a Leisuredrive top? It look very tall compared to mine. Perhaps they made different types?
Optional extra is uber rare lockable cabinet. :pimp Very useful but bloody ugly from side
Not sure if still made though.

I have the same setup. On mine there is virtially no extra support under the fibre glass apart from some wooden battons inside holding the carpet up, so I have no idea how you would attach anything securely to it?

If you find a good use please let me know :)

Deffo a leisure drive top, same as my mates. Should have a rail around the flat bit. Think they might havel done different styles though as there are pics on Internetwith different shaped windows.

Yes mine has a rack like that. Has been useful in the past for storing sporadically used stuff like plastic leveling ramps etc. But Thinking of removing it as it is a bit patina'd now and would remove the need to carry the extendable ladder which is determined to give me blood blisters (PC near miss  ) when I collapse it and the fear of falling off it due to the impediments of age and possible corroded fixings. The ramps will take up less room inside than the ladder.
