Best place to buy lining carpet and lining tips please

Post by jennieb »

So I have been looking around for some nice lining carpet as my old girl really needs a face lift...so going in for the full reline!!..Where is the cheapest place to buy lining carpets ...insulation...and glue...has anyone got any tips please and when is the best time to do it...I don't have a garage and would have liked to have done it over the winter (so she is ready for the spring). Will I have to heat the van up (has the glue got a certain temperature it has to be used in?)..I'm going to strip all of the interior out too. Any help...warnings...advice would be most welcome.

I got my stretch carpet and a box of 12 cans of high temp spray glue from Harrison Trim supplies. Heating the van up with a fan heater would make the whole process more enjoyable!

Got mine from a place called classic acoustics in Telford. Their website isn't up to much so you need to call them but they sell carpet with the glue already applied and a peel off backing. Saves loads of time and hassle in my experience. Had no problems with it peeling off in hot weather.

Another vote for Megavanmats. I did mine this summer. Make sure you allow plenty of time to do it. It took me about three or four days in the end. And make sure you photograph each piece of the old carpet showing how it was fixed before you remove everything. A lot of the pieces from my van over-lapped it ways that weren't that obvious especially once all the bits were laid out of the floor ready to cut the new pieces out.

The spray glue that came with the mat was easy to use and would let you pull a piece off if you didn't get it positioned spot on first time. I even re-covered the Zig unit.

Another recommendation for MegaVan Mats - have a look at my thread here http://forum.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=153991 for ideas.
