Can anybody explain to me how you attach the awning using the figure 8 ... And NOT tearing a hole in it when you open the sliding door .... FFS !!!

Leave the slider open when attaching awning to van.

You need to offset the tent so that the slider doesnt contact it....our attaches to a bead on an omnistor so maybe that gives a little extra height?

I used to make sure the side of the van was levelish with the level with the side of the awning,
Also, don thave too much tension in the tunnel section

We have an Outwell so may not be applicable advise, but we have the awning as far to the back of the van as possible which solves the problem of the edge of the door catching the material.

Now you mention the off set.... That does make sence, I've always gone square on ....next time ! Do you use as many fig8 bars as it takes to fill the whole edge ?

I should have said BACK of van is level with side face of awning - that way the slider didnt slide as far as to touch the tunnel. It also meant the other side of the awning wasn't obscuring the passenger door of the van and I could still open the door (this didnt occur to me until the second season of using it!!).

As far as fig 8 strips go, mine came with 3, I just used the 2 longer ones - it did mean a free bit in the middle but it meant it was easier to pop them on the rail and then slide them outwards to get the maximum tunnel width
