It's all doable with a bit of patience. One for the engine build topic.
I've still got loads to do...

I believe Ian is planning a WBX6 engine, but he may see sense and opt for a good auld JX!

Yes its the 3.2 wbx6. Looking forward to getting on with the engine build now that the new cam has finally arrived!

Took the "engine" out now that everything appears to fit reasonably well and I can get on with that; chassis flanges drilled with the help of a jig and the extended reinforcing strips (that I will probably tack into place as well as bolt through)
Also managed to unscrew the PAS reservoir cap to renew the filter, it was incredibly tight. 5mins on the bandsaw to make a saddle and the old Sykes filter wrench got hold of it ;)ImageImageImage

On Sunday I washed the bus for the first time since it was painted :D
I'll admit to being slightly fearful of the job having put it off to get it watertight first (washer jets etc) and in the full knowledge that I haven't fitted the cab door seals yet...
Couldn't work fast enough in the sunshine, so I have swapped dirt and blossom petals for watermarks thanks to our hard water. But at least it's clean.

Fitted a stainless BW fuel filter bracket too, no guide dimples on the spring tower for the drillings that I could find and not the easiest job now that the tank and gearbox are back in.
One of the chaps provided me with the positions: 140mm down from top of arch at the front, 100mm down at the rear.
An extra-long series drill is essential and thankfully I had one that suited the screws that I used.
Copperslip on the stainless screw threads, I do not want that galling in the nut plate.Image

Finished the lever for the winch freespool. Stainless shaft (won't seize in the bushes) welded to a mild steel handle (easy to machine!)
I think it looks about "right" and feels comfortable in the hand, nice and low-profile.ImageImage

That’s a thing of beauty Ian!
How far does it need to rotate between engaged/disengaged?

Thanks! It's a simple 180 degree flip over. The eccentric part that plugs into the winch housing has a slight over-centre action to keep it engaged.

This is all looking great Ian...
I cannot wait to see this, and sit in the passenger seat at syncropendance some time in the future.

Thanks matey! I have checked with Hayward & Scotts (exhaust makers of choice, really lovely work) and they are still working, so that *should* be motivating me to get the engine built.
I'm just feeling a bit deflated atm...

Salvage job on the rad fan shroud. Bead blast and a paint, came back quite well and will do for now.
Also dug out the JP 7-blade "silent" fan from a TD, reduced in diameter from 350 to 305mm, balance checked and good to go.
Got to be better than the original to cool the wbx6 with aircon.

Wiring and more wiring. Refitting the rear wash/wipe harness was nearly as difficult as removing it from the donor...
The odd repair (done properly) and a bit of OEM goodness ;)
Because it all came from a high-spec rhd GL, I also have factory wiring for high-level rear speakers :)ImageImageImage

Another job done. Aircon wiring hauled through. I went for the easy life and tucked it under the crossmember by the clutch pipe, then its bundled up with the main harness and vac hoses to pass through the (new) hole in the stringer halfway along.
It makes the relay board look very grubby!

Where the hoses will thread through is anyone's guess, but the Qmax punches will get another airing...ImageImageImageImage
