Not bad, all things considered. Now I just need a roller and bracket for the back of the deform panel on the LHS, to stop the rope rubbing as it runs off the conduit guide pulley.
The slot through the deform is deliberately asymmetric, to allow for the snatch block taking up its natural resting position when the rope is wound in.Image

Made a Delrin bush and washer combo to carry the freespool lever through the front panel. I fancy making that from stainless, but my tame TIG welding man has shut down for a bit :(
May just have to be MIG'd mild steel and then BZP & paint for now, althpugh plating is also becoming.problematic as I can't get enough together for a batch...ImageImage

More details. The 3.2 came with an early DF- type 2wd engine bar (presumably for exhaust clearance) in fair condition but the feet had been hacked about and the "thin" ends had fatigue cracks.
So I welded that up and will re-drill the holes using another bar as a drill jig.
Not sure if I will even use it as I have a galvanized later 2wd bar that works better with the engine protection, keeps my options open.
Also made a new reinforcing plate for the nearside engine bar mounting from 75x6mm (afterthought) it will be welded in place and do double duty taking forces from the rear winch eye.
I dont want the first recovery to pull the rear of the van in!ImageImageImage

Figured that since we make them, the works demonstrator really should have a 711 shifter fitted in place of the old SA spec solid shaft lever.ImageImageImage

First trial fit of the lengthened engine/gearbox underrun protection and it is spot on, bolted up without any real snags, just the usual tweaks and prising ;)
The bottom bolt boss on the case below the flywheel is just touching the plate, so that will need a bit of a tickle to get some daylight otherwise it will rattle.
Now I can drill the chassis flanges accurately without it all wobbling about :)ImageImage

Oil filler pipe (a Type 4 part) will need a tweak once built up and installed, could be tricky as the plastic bit already has grazes on the top from the belts. May have to get creative there.
Also knocked up a plate to carry the PAS reservoir using the unused diesel engine bar tappings. Clearances look good :)ImageImageImage

Thought about Itchy's tower filler mod? een considering the same for mine, for no other reason but to make it easier to fill but am a little concerned about any longer term implications.

I'm not aware but guessing at doing away with the valving part of the breather tower and bonding a filler into the top of it?
I'd rather have a working breather and the ability to top up the oil without turning out the entire load area! I went to a lot of effort to sort the dipstick so the oil filler will get the same, its just something that will have to wait until the engine is finished and installed.

Pretty much but using a breather valve in the pipe after the tower.

https://forum.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic. ... 7&t=168942

But can understand not wanting to empty out the load area and keeping a functioning tower.
