Vibration with powerflex

Post by jaber »

Hi all, since installing engine, had serious vibrations when in low revs, I might add during install i fIt powerfex gearbox mounts, ok changed everything possible, recently changed all three front diff mounts, for powerflex vibrations where unbearable between 40 n 50, so put the old ones back, much better, question is are the old rubber mounts better than powerflex, it seems having one solid bush centre rather than 2 separate ones could cause vibration, has anyone cut the centre bush in half and did it work?
Could this be the cause of my vibes from the gearbox from the start, it driving me mad, changed the engine mounts twice to try and eleviate the problem, find it strange how fitting new bushes to front diff makes thins worse

Forgot to add she’s a Jx

Poweflex gearbox mounts have been known to cause vibration problems with otherwise vibe-free waterboxers!
As I understand it, the vibration damping properties of polyurethane are very different to that of good old vulcanised rubber.
PU might be good for suspension bushes, but not engine mounts it seems.
Although the 2wd g'box nose mounts work ok afaik?

Fit rubber mount. Powerflex for gearbox and diff are rubbish.
