On the cadge - 251711184c - Boot for T3 Syncro gear linkage

Post by Simon Baxter »

Anyone got one of those rubber boots that fits at the front of a T3 syncro gear linkage?
The one that's always hanging in pieces, fits over the front end of the plastic protection tube (drain pipe for want of a better word) for the gear linkage.
Supplier interested in making them but struggling to find any decent samples.
If so and you can help then mail service@brickwerks.co.uk

just make a replacement from a generic universal steering rack gaiter, then you can ditch the plastic waste pipe tube and the piece of now hard fuel hose and stop the tube banging the floor where the piece of foam has gone to dust, a simple cheap solution which is what Steyr should have done in the first place, I can't believe the complexity of their solution with a unique boot that wasn't flexible enough to stop it cracking; someone must have got a backhander from the plastic tube and hose suppliers

SA syncros didn't use either sleeves ( covers) they had the same boot and bush fitted as on the gearbox.

...and early syncros didnt even have them anyway!
Bloody daft idea and all to keep a bit of muck off of one bush and a u/j

But Simon is asking for a good example in order to remake them, for those who like originality.

These people do exist :D
