E30 servo

Post by Masher_T »

Hi, decided to use my limited mechanical skills and fit an e30 servo dash out, a bit scary but getting there. Will see when it’s back together for the test drive. The e30 servo looks a bit scaby but was told the reservoir leaked but works fine. Do I paint or not? It won’t be seen

Looks like the master cyl. was leaking and reacted with the paint, a lick of black hammerite wouldn't hurt. ( E30 on right )?

My clutch pedal is worn and have been putting it off for a '' rainy day '' When in there it would be rude not to upgrade the servo.
I think it's straightforward but pedal needs drilling to fit the larger BMW clevis pin ( I think )

I think it’s the hole in the base of the existing clevis pin that needs to be altered to fit the threaded rod on the servo
I might be wrong please correct me if I am.

I cut down the rod by about 8mmImage
I then screwed the fixing back on, right to the end of the threads and made sure the threads were not poking through Image
I then put the servo back on the pedals and the hole for the pin lined up spot on. Sorry I don’t know the technical terms but it seams I did not need to cut any holes or tap a thread and put the old servo joint onImage
I took the pedals out of the van which was a squeeze, to make sure it all lines up and fits properly before taking it apart again and putting it back in.
Checking that the pedal is not putting pressure on the master cylinder.Image

You have to shorten the actuation rod on the Beemer servo and cut a new thread in the T3 clevis pin (which is NLA from VW, I bought the last one in Germany.

Now I'm confused, the clevis is the bracket, the clevis pin fits in the hole! To confuse things further don't early T4 servo's fit?

Yes the clevis pin is the bracket. Sorry to confuse folk. I am a novice. Just to confuse more. I have tapped the VW clevis there was a bit of play at the pedal.Image

Sounds good. I have changed to the vented discs and am fitting some recon callipers and braided hoses. Just waiting to hear back from 025 about rear disc conversion.
