Viscous Coupling fluid

Post by silverbullet »

No, not a big revelation ;) but an FYI that there may be a short interruption to supply.
I have enough for the last two (maybe three) that are due to arrive, but thats all.
I will be re-ordering from the same UK source, enquiry already sent for another 25kg barrel so if you doubt the performance of your VC, email the works precision@holman-engineering.co.ukImage

Update. Due to a large chemical plant closure (in, you guessed it, China) the global price for silicone fluids has jumped almost 50%.
This means that I will now be paying over £500/barrel vs £300 to my UK manufacturer, compared to what I paid back in 2014.
So there will be a small increase in VC refill charges, nothing dramatic though.
There will probably be a knock-on to the Viton seal costs too.

Its arrived and already draining out! Appears to be in superb condition at a glance, no spline wear, seals just about to fail, fluid is black but its full and no oil ingestion.

Fingers crossed, it did look clean when it came out and no funny smells. Maybe the decoupler has help stop any excessive wear.

Oh no, not the D word! All they do is cost you fuel and wear out the rear cw&p faster.

Well that’s the reason to get the VC sorted then the D will be redundant and I can use it as it was meant to be. ))
