4.5 back (empty) 1.5 front. Think I'll use the cheaper option as the jx is far from torquey !!

I hate to think what temperature the oil gets to ( ambiant 30 to 45 deg c ) in my newly rebuilt box..
I wonder how much it would cost to send some 75-140 oil to Spain?
What does the " team" think?
I dont think, so I'm not[do I exist?]

If the front diff and VC "hump" temperature range is anything to go by, 110-130 deg C is normal.

Thanks Silverbullet, the box had done 80,000miles since the last overhaul [2006 ] so hasn't done badly[using 75w90 oil]
Aidan re-built it this august [3-4 slider ].

So is it fair to say that Millers Oils CRX LS 75w-140 N is the best choice for a TDI powered syncro.
With the advice from Aidan to change gear oil on a newly purchased vehicle I better get busy draining oil.
1st and second gear are a bit crunchy which I would not expect from a recently built gearbox so maybe there are some other hidden issues which may show up on the magnet.
