Rope guide conduit is now all tied in to the chassis with some 5mm plates (I made a handful of universal ones and they have been trimmed to suit, really pleased with the final fitting by Sandy)
The single conduit joiner also incorporates a drain point near the vacuum reservoir, rain will get in there no matter what due to the slight downward incline from the front and it gives the option to flush it through as required.
Last job is the front pulley (already made) to guide the rope from conduit to snatch block and then its time for paint :)

PS I have a standard 100ft rope (30.5m) which means the drum will be full (~25m capacity at 12mm) and it leaves just the right amount to run forward and then back to the rear hook :)

Winch system is complete! The rope run is all nicely in one plane (hopefully no twisting at the snatch block) and its all below the radiator and fan.
The single guide pulley is removable for servicing (scaff tube axle) and a simple (!) CDS tube offcut through the front valence will carry a bearing bush for a flip-over lever, to actuate the freespool via a double u/j shaft running under the radiator.
To say that I am pleased how it has turned out is a massive understatement.
Sandy has taken my mad idea and made it reality. Genius.ImageImageImage

The rope never leaves the conduit.
For a front pull: the hitch pin is removed and the snatch block comes out for a 2:1 pull.
For a rear pull, just pay out rope for a 1:1 (the snatch block works as a diverter pulley) or hook to the rear eye thats been added to the towbar and use a second snatch block.

Details. A hinged bootlid numberplate plinth from an Austin Mini mk1 will keep the weather out. Repro so its cheap as chips, slight mod to the hinges, a little trim and it stands up when open due to the curve on the bumper.
Rubber buffers too so it won't rattle.
I also appear to have a painted roof and engine bay again.ImageImageImage

Wish that I could say that it was all my own work, but a man's got to know his limitations.

Thanks Tim. I think that I may have bagged a syncro "first" with this one, so I'll revel in a little smugness until someone brings me crashing down :D

Blue once again (again) and yes, I have ditched the truck mirrors and gone for painted electric mirrors.
Deal with it, I have moved on :DImageImageImage

Ditching the big mirrors - how rude.
