In an idle moment (and faced with the prospect of pulling the dash out of the 1995 SA to fix the heater wiring) I got to wondering:
What alternative dash/clock/pod combos have been successfully done in a T3?

I'd considered Golf MK3 but also quite like the idea of modifying/grafting in something from a mid-90's Audi to match the heater controls (Audi 80/90) to update the switchgear and make it feel a bit younger.
Whatcha got piccy-wise?

I'd go for the analogue Coupe GT set as they'll be a lot cheaper and no digital nightmares!

Since the '95 has these heater controls it would make sense to get an auxiliary instrument panel too

has worked every time so far.

I was speaking to someone who very rarely comes on here about his setup.
He was saying the main problem is that most of the dials are too deep and hit the brake master cylinder, think he got his from a fiat coupe as they were the only ones that would fit without interfering, they look pretty neat though.

I'd reckoned on relocating the brake reservoir, combined with some fairly extensive surgery to the instrument pack anyway.

It might not have been fiat, have sent him a message to enquire.

It was Fiat, fiat coupe 16v 4 cylinder.

I'm building a new set of clocks over the winter. Will post a "how to" when its done. Lot of stuff involved including ease of fitment and allowing for master cylinder but think I have it licked now.

That'll make for interesting reading! I'll be a little way behind you on this one, I think.

Not sure how far I can develop it once finished. I'm musing the idea of having new injection mouldings made for the actual pod part to allow a range of clocks to be fitted and open up the concept much wider. What I haven't worked out is just how much of a departure from the overall look people would accept. That seems to be limiting me a little. I'm hoping rather than just hacking up the standard pod face I can make a redesigned plug n play pod that would allow more customization for individual owners. The stock one allows for nowt frankly. There are of course plenty of blank pods for hot rods etc but they tend to have limited gauge diameters, way off the T25 shape and look ugly in my opinion.
