Kph to Mph backlight style dial faces
Would anyone be interested in these if i can convince the company to make some in MPH?
http://translate.google.com/translate?u ... &sl=&tl=en
I really want a set, i dont like the dim dash lighting anyway and finding replacement bulbs is a pain in the proverbial.
Only downside i can see at the moment is that the needle is not illuminated, however, im hatching ideas to rig up a UV LED where the bulb would normally be and paint the needle with UV reactive red paint. We'll have to see how that works out.
They do blue light ones too, but the dial faces are white instead of black, which some may prefer...?
Basically i'm looking for interest as i assume they would need a batch order to make MPH ones. Ive sent them an email to see whats possible.
Anyone?

Re: Plasma gauges - bling bling
i would be up for that, i take it that they will just have a hard wire in to the lighting circit? also could you ask if they make the mph markings it they would have kph in a smaller inner dial, like the standard ones ? if not it would not be the end of the world. i guess that the marking would be the same for a 2wd speedo and the same for a syncro speedo. i like the idea of uv buld and uv paint on the needles.

From looking through the stuff they make, it would seem that they make various different types for T3 vans. So i guess anything is possible...?

Re: Plasma gauges - bling bling
So basically they are just back-illuminated faces for your instruments, like you get in any modern car.
OK... but like AL says, without illuminated needles they will be useless.

Mega
As Aidan really.
It's wrong that I get excited over things like this when there are so many other important things to be done first.
Machine that goes bing anyone?

Indeed, i'm kind of surprised that they havn't come up with a solution for it. Don't see why the 'painted needle and UV LED' wouldn't work? The LED's are readily available and plenty of people have converted to LED for the illumination side.
I know that UV red paint is widely available too in many different paint types. I reckon it would work well. Its the best solution i've come up with so far, anyone got any other ideas?
Does anyone speak german? I'm unsure at the moment as to whether they are exchange units or a straight purchase?

Re: Plasma gauges - bling bling
I just got a mail back from them! (wasnt expecting that til ,monday really)
Here is their reply:
Its a fairly big order, but there has to be 30 people who would like them? Especially with a solution for the needle?
Could look at investing in them and selling them on i guess?
Here is their reply:
We only have them with km/h scale, but we can produce them with mph scale,
but here you have to order at least 30 sets of them.
You can change the whole design if you want.

Re: Plasma gauges - bling bling
is it worth asking for some kind of discount if an order of 30 is needed, i have recently managed to get quite large discounts on parts when ordering 10 sets of parts, costs nothing to ask

Re: Plasma gauges - bling bling
Considering the likes of Claer etc had 220kmh speedos for the Porsche engine/gearboxed buses, I guess I'll need a 140 mph speedo for the Bullet. Eventually
Seriously though folks...If it was combined with an illuminated needle then I'd consider it. These tend to use a tinted clear needle which is painted white on the back (to reflect the light forward to the driver) and illumination is fed from around the centre spindle. It neccessitates a slightly larger centre disc for the needle to "mask" out the light feed. Can't be that hard for these guys to figure out.
