in theory yes, if you can get the heater box open.

but id say its going to make it loads harder trying to split the heaterbox without taking it out of the van completely.

why cant you take the pipes off?
switch the valave off , clamp them shut just before, take them off at the heater box and refill the heater before fitting pipes back on, there will be minimal air in the system,

its a pig of a job anyway, dash right out ect, why make it harder??

Yes thats what I did. I was dreading the job but to be honest if you just switch off that lazy/shortcut part of your brain and plod through it it ain't that bad. I agree that splitting the heater box in situ could posibly be done but would severely limit your ability to do a good job.
I think I used a couple of mole wrenches but you could make bungs or even use a couple of those brake hose clamp tools.
Good luck with it

its not as bad as people make out, its sounds bad, bu once you start its not ........ just take steps to stop air getting in and the less you will have to get out, like clamp the pipes, switch the heater valve off, and refill everything you can before replumbing, heater and pipes as much as poss......

plenty on bleeding in wiki
