Windscreen washer pump

In the fight for a good washer on a pre '87 van I have replaced the washer jets to 3 hole Suzuki ones, I have added a non-return valve to have fluid right away, but the stream is still weak and cannot stand the airflow. Especially on the drivers side (LHD)

I am thinking if there is a plug and play washer pump which is stronger than the 30yr old original one?
Or just buy a new aftermarket one and it will be better? Are there any better brands to search for?

I put the same jets on my 1985 van but without the non return Valve and I have lots of Pressure from the jets are you sure it's not the non return Valve restricting the water flow

Will check what if I bypass the non return valve. And will also check the voltage at the pump if there is an electric issue somewhere.
Just the temperatures are not yet in the "lay under the van" range :)

That what I would do before I started buying new parts and I feel your pain the weather over here it not the weather for getting under the van Either its That kind of weather raining dark clouds and Miserable.

I fitted the three nozzle jet types to mine, they are ok when stationary but when driving along the wind just blows the water to one side making them not necessary ineffective but not as efficient as I would like.

Same here. It is a bit better with thicker washer fluids.
I assume that a stronger pump would make the water streams harder to push away.

Interesting to see how you get on with a new pump, or even altering the jet angle to compensate for the side wind.

I was searching through the VEMO catalogs to find out if there are any differences in design between old and new pumps.

Their OE replacement pump is a V10 series:

They also list a V40 series one as suitable for our vans:

I wonder if there is a difference in the flow output. They seem to be similar in size.

I like the V40 for the Mk3 with the JPT connector:

Maybe I am wrong and the partnrs are not grpuped by the design

Continental/VDO has two different partnrs for those different Vemo pumps:

I find the original 1 jet is actually fine but I have late vehicles and I appreciate the issue with the earlier position of the jets, my first van was like that, but once I fitted new genuine jets and spent ages aligning them suitably I found it was okay. I did blow out all the lines with compressed air which shifted some crud that had built up over the years and removed the tank and cleaned that, again there was plaque and mould in the tank that had built up over the years from all the different fluids used

Wish I had cleaned my system before replacing jets as unsure if they can now be removed without damaging them.  The piping leading into the back of them should have been replaced also as they looked a bit perished and hard.  I would realign the jets to give an exaggerated angle/cover to compensate for side winds whilst driving but this would look odd for a static MOT and maybe a failure. :?:

I think I also forgot to clean the hoses. Maybe it is some blockage somewhere.
I dont remember if my pump is OEM or aftermarket. Maybe worth to change it to a quality new part anyways. I think I will order one of the VDO ones to have a spare if I get to the measurements.
