LED Indicator issue

Post by Shinnster »

Hi all
another day a new issue!

I have got a set of the LED indicators and relay from Slaughterhouse but 1 of them isnt working.
If i switch the bulb from the one that doesn't work with 1 that was working, the same 1 doesn't work (my front right indicator)
but if i put my original bulb in it works fine.

any ideas as to why?
I thought at first it must just be a blown bulb but seeing as it works in a different indicator I'm confused :?

At a simple guess I would say your bulbs are polarity sensitive and the wires on the non-working corner need swapping over.

back to another issue with these same indicators......
the relay now constantly clicks as soon as the ignition is turned on, does that point to a faulty relay?

ive had to remove the led bulbs and back to stock bulbs and stock relay as the clicking was so annoying all the time.

Sounds like a resistance issue .
Direction indicators are the only bulbs other than headlights I haven’t changed to LED , they are such low hour usage I didn’t see the point

Bad Earth? Problem with stalk?

If it’s clicking as soon as key in its receiving power somehow without stalk making circuit?

but it has only happened since switching to the led's. back to stock and all is fine no issues :(
think i'll just leave them out.
and when i say clicking... it doesnt actually make the indicators turn on all the time.... just the clicking noise at the relay

Relay will only click if receiving power, doesn’t take much.

Hmm - very odd.

The relay for this is quite simple -

Pin 1 (49).
From Hazard switch (pin 49 - white).

This takes it's voltage supply from:-
Ignition live from the hazard switch (pin 15 - black / blue) from fuse 19 (for the indicator stalk) when hazard switch is off.
Or
permanent live input to the hazard switch (pin 30 - white / red) from fuse 4 when the hazards are switched on.

Pin 3 (49a).
Switched ground for all indication bulbs including dash tell-tale led.

Pin 4 (31).
Relay ground - internally connected to pin 1 via the relay electronics.
There is no ground wire - it is hard-wired within the fuse box.

Not sure why led indicators would change anything despite having a much reduced internal resistance and current consumption.
In "normal" set ups, it would simply cause the relay to flash quicker as if a bulb had blown.

Faulty relay perhaps?.
Faulty hazard switch?.
You have got me confused there. ????

with my lack of knowledge your post has me even more confused lol
but they are sending me a new relay to see if I have a faulty one :)
