Hello All.
I've got a 1984 T25 that has an immobiliser on/off switch under the dash that was installed over 20 years ago It's not working and but I can start van easily. I'm anxious that later it may work and jam in the immobilised mode so I want to find out how it works.
I followed a green/yellow wire that connects to clear plastic relay. The relay does not work when power is on and I flick the switch on and off. What would they use a relay for to stop you turning the engine over .
I would suspect disabling the starter motor relay.
Any ideas... ta John

Re: VW T25 immobiliser stopped working
It is common practice to use a relay to take the load of operating the starter off the ignition switch contacts.
There are lots of threads about hard-start relays etc.
Look at sluggish starters or starting problems.
As for disabling the relay, yes this should / could act as an immobiliser - if wired up correctly.

Maybe one day I might get it finished
