Earthed the sender wire while taking a video on phone and it shows the led flashing and the pointer shoots up then goes back down after being removed from earth Is it a fault with sensor?

Yes it’s a sensor fault

I have wires either side, replaced both connections and still no luck.

I'm guessing brickwerks would be the go to for a new sensor? Is it a big job to swap out?

Thanks for the help it's much appreciated!

I'm assuming this correct part but it's the cheaper version as other one out of stock. Is this something I should wait for the better part or just fit the cheaper one? Image

Cheers I've ordered a replacement but I'm guessing if I take it out a lot of coolant will shortly follow!?

Do I have to drain the whole system before I swap it out or just try and fit it with a bucket underneath and hope for the best?

No you don't have to drain it just swap it as quick as you can how much water comes out depends on how quick you do it 😉
