Oil Pressure Switch Location? 1.6Diesel 1990
Hi,
Me again. Could someone tell me where I can find the oil pressure switches on an 1.6d 1990 California? I'll be damned if I can find both. I have found one on the filter housing (see attached pic) But I have a yellow wire that literally has no where to go and it's driving me insane.
HELP PLEASE!!

On the back of the cylinder head

when you say back, whereabouts are you talking? I've attached a pic with numbers on, if you give me the number I can look in that direction. Thanks

These are the colour codes for the cables for each oil pressure switch
High Pressure switch = Yellow (this is a normall open)
Low Pressure switch = Blue/Black (this is normally closed)
The location for each switch on a 1.6TD Diesel engine according to the Brickweks site is as follows:-
"On Diesel engines the low oil pressure switch is usually at the far end of the cylinder head near the coolant outlet.
On a Diesel the high oil pressure switch is on the oil filter head. "
Based on that, your Yellow Wire should go to the OIl Filter Switch and the Blue/Black goes to the cylinder head switch. Yours seems to be wired incorrectly.
Hopefully, someone can confirm that the Brickwerks site have the correct information for the 1.6 Diesel, their information for the WBX'r is correct so I would think it would be correct for Diesel too.

Back of the cylinder head as you look at the engine from the rear of the van, i.e. below and to the right of your number 1 on the vertical end face of the engine.

My van (jx,1990 ,same year) has a brown low pressure switch ( open circuit with engine running),on the end of the head, not blue as seems to be more commonly available.Has that been fitted in the wrong location on your engine? Having said that,Brickwerks say “usually fitted in on the far end of the head “ so maybe the location of the switches can be the other way .

Have you now seen a switch on the far end of the head ,what colour is it?
Re: Oil Pressure Switch Location? 1.6Diesel 1990
Just seen your previous post saying the buzzer is continuous , so if that switch on the end of the head is a high pressure switch ( black grey or white) maybe fitting the yellow wire to it is all that is needed.
The switches have the pressure rating stamped on them which can be seen once the switch is removed, which might be necessary to confirm what switches you have.

The switch on the end of the head is supposed to be the 0.3 bar (blue) switch. The switch on the filter housing is supposed to be the 1.4 bar (black) switch for NA Diesels, and the 0.9 bar (grey) switch for Turbo Diesels.
I don't know whether they can be fitted the other way around provided the wiring is also reversed, but the engine manual has them fitted as above - see picture.
