Name that (loose) connector!

I was having a poke around the van this morning as I seem to have developed a bit of an oil leak (another question coming soon) and whilst I was there I spotted this...

Hanging loose.

I've traced it back and it connects to the engine block somewhere behind the carb, any clues?

If it's of any consequence, it's an early df with a later dg

It’s the not needed and not used VW diagnosis cable , which just shows TDC from the flywheel hole
chop it off, throw it away , no one has the reader that it connects to .
