Have you checked you don’t have a vacuum leak ? Stalling at junctions just after you have braked is a classic symptom of a vac pipe leaking

I am going to sound totally random here.
Back in the mid-90s, I had a base model Vauxhall Cavalier 1300 with a 2e3 carb fitted.
It used to stall almost everytime I stopped at a junction.
I ended up converting it to a manual choke.
(Alexander choke conversion kit, I think).
It never stalled again, before I had to send it to the crusher in 2007.
So yes - have good check over of your auto choke set-up. I think it is a bi-metalic coiled strip, but the choke unit can be rotated to adjust the max and minimum enrichment.
I would suggest setting up the whole carb, including fast and slow idle cam stop screws.

Nice one. Did replace vac hoses yesterday and didn’t help unfortunately. But will check again.
Think you’re right it’s likely to be the auto choke as it warms up. It’s not something I really understand tbh. I’ll have a fiddle with it. Could have slipped round maybe. If not it’s heading back to the garage.

Is your brake servo vacuum hose to the manifold ok? A leak on that will lean off that side of the engine, possibly causing a misfire. If you have the braided cloth one spray brake cleaner/carb cleaner/wd40 on the hose. If engine revs pick up you've got a leak.

She’s running again and idle issue solved. Did about 3 miles trouble free so far.
Two more vac hoses replaced, idle jet blasted again and found auto choke wasn’t quite seated properly (not sure if that makes much difference) only 2 out of three screws doing any good as housing broken. But it’s solid enough.
Wound the idle screw in a little to get the revs up slightly to.

If anyone comes across this... some new discoveries that may be worth looking at if you find yourself in the same spot.
- check vac hoses have good clips and they are on well. Mine were new hoses but a bit lose. Possibly not quite right size and could pop off.
- check mixture screw as this caused a lot of issues knowing what I know now. Mine was out far too much and running very rich. This is because it got clogged up and stuck at some point so was mistaken as fully would in. Needed some careful persuasion but turned freely eventually.
Really needs a rebuild, but good enough for now.
