Indication problems

Post by T25_Baloo »

Not had much luck today.

The passenger side indicator stopped working so I got a new bulb from Halfords and tried to fit it. When I did so I noticed the bulb holder was completely corroded so I ordered a new one if those from JK.

Hopefully that solves that problem?!

It’s the drivers indicator that I have a question about. It was working fine until today. I decided to open the drivers one as like the passenger one it had abit of moisture in there (from cracks in the indicators, need new ones of those aswell! Image) that I thought I’d dry out. I also took the bulb out of the holder to see if all looked ok. There was a small build up of crust but otherwise looked ok. Put it back together and it’s stopped working! Wally! Can you see from the picture if there’s anything wrong?? I cleaned the bulb holder with connection cleaner and tried the new bulb but no good. I’m good at making more problems for myself!

To make matters worse the Mrs’s Vauxhall Adam started leaking oil on the way to Halfords! Haha, one of those days!

Clean the rust from the connector at 3 o'clock - there is no way that the electrickery can reach the bulb there.

Great shout mate Image I gave it another scrub after work this evening and it’s back working. The strange thing was the bulb didn’t work when I twisted it into the holder fully. It only worked when I put it in and twisted it only slightly. A problem with the holder maybe? I’ll keep an eye on it and get a new bulb holder if it plays up.

Thanks again

Cheap nasty bulbs often have the pins for the bayonet too low on the base so when completely home the contact isn’t tight on the bottom , but part way in is tight enough .....

Or could be the bottom contact is bent down and needs bending up.
