Cruise control instalation and alternative parts.

Post by Rascal »

Is this the cruise control relay two wires go to the vss (vehicle speed sensor I think) on the speedo. And the other go to a 2 pin connector that isn't attached to anything (was behind radio?) Image can't find any reference in the Bentley manual

The item pictured is not the CCS control unit, which is a 'double width' box, part number 443 907 305.

May I suggest OP takes that bit of black tape off the relay, reads the part number which I suspect it is presently concealing, posts the part number on here so an ID can be attempted. Or he/she could try simply googling for it him/herself.

In case OP is not aware, a VAG part number usually is comprised of three groups of three digits, often followed by a suffix of one or more letters. For electrical items, the middle three-digit number usually starts with a '9'.

i looked under the tape its 253 035 327 A. all i could find was this T3 12V pulse doubler GALA signal 253 035 327 A
i also finally
found this in the bently manual
Image
so it would appear at some point my vehicle did indeed have cruise control which was at some point removed, i also believe it had central locking as  looking inside the drivers door the connecting pin  is there for the actuator.

The '253 035 327 A' control unit/relay is not shown on the cruise-control system wiring diagram. I've the complete ring-bound folder here. There is just the control unit I already mentioned. Nor is it shown on the Bentley illustration. I just did an 'ATP' search in ETKA, and it is not found. So, further research would be needed. Or, you could simply trace the wiring connected to the unit to see what is connected and work it out that way.

My apologies for boarding this thread...but this is very interesting.

In my camper I have a vacuum pump and control unit for cruise control. Plus most of the vacuum piping. So lm searching for the vacuum servo and linkage. And if reasonably priced the CC stalk too. But l reckon l can make something from non VW parts.

Perhaps l should l start a new thread?

Rascal, what is your purpose for this thread ? Do you intend to refit CC? Or just sharing general knowledge? That Bentley CC diagram made me think about refitting CC to my camper too.
