Or get one from slaughterhouse customs
https://www.slaughterhousecustoms.com/p ... -GPSSpeedo

Really good, especially as I have a smaller steering wheel so original speedo is slightly obscured.

What happens when you lose the GPS signal and are they MOT compliant? Interesting idea but my SATNAV indicates speed so I assume that is the same technology.

Has anyone ever had the speedo checked at a mot ? I definitely haven’t , no way of testing it as it’s powered by the front wheel not the gearbox on a 2wd

I wouldn't have thought so.

I have only seen them use the rollers for testing the brakes... not to see if the speedometer works.

My thoughts also, I wonder if they notice an issue with the speedo during this process would it fail the MOT.

I checked, The rules for Speedometers are there for the MOT and were updated in 2013, non functioning speedo is a fail but, like everyone has pointed out, speedo function does not seem to be checked.

I presume then, that as all of our vans pre-date 2013, then that rule will not apply.

It is my understanding that the rules relevant at the time of manufacture apply for any subsequent MOTs.

Or am I being a silly billy...?

Its the emissions that also worry me, at some stage they will be so critical and stringent that older vehicles wont have a chance, or is there  also a get out clause for that somewhere dependant on age, mine passes att with no problems.

At some point it will be a classic car and mot exempt. I have five more years to go by which time who knows what the situation will be for fossil fuel powered vehicles.

The test takes into account the original parameters the engine was designed for , and as Has been said , once its gets to 40 it won’t matter anyway .....

That's good news, stroll on 40, a few years to go still.

I must be getting colder as my speedometer is playing up again as posted earlier in this thread, this must be linked to the outside  temperature as it seems to be happening about the same time each year.  :?
