T3 Indicators in a hurry !

Post by sump »

Hi all,
My 88 van has suddenly started flashing too quickly?

Haven't changed anything and all four are working just far too fast.

Any ideas out there? :x

Is that a definite or a real possibility ?

Where can I find it and how can I test it?

Where is the flasher unit?

Well I removed the flasher unit/relay cleaned terminals no difference. Gave it a wiggle same, squeezed it and for a moment the indicators flashed correctly. As soon as I let go, back to normal fast flashing.
Removed unit, removed case and found the flap over the end of the coil the bit that makes the contact is not attached but falls out maybe copper band should be in one bit not two?

Well now, split the relay and guess what, the end of the coil plate; the bit that makes and breaks had come off!
New one on order from the brick company but I don't like to be beat so I soldered some threads of copper wire to make the hinge up and it works! :ok

Well done fellow T3 owner :ok An informative and happy conclusion.
I did similar with pump for front windscreen washers. It failed. Took pump out and cut top off body. Removed loads of debris. Cleaned it up. Tested and working. Then siliconed top back on. Been like that since 2017.

New one arrived from Brick werks nice looking item fitted straight in and works like a dream. Quieter than the old one as well. £13.00 well spent.
And the old repaired one in the back as a spare! :ok
