Cannot find cause of battery drain

Post by JackE »

Something is drawing on the battery, when the van is off. The draw is about 10.4

I have removed fuses one by one and this doesn't change the reading of 10.4 in anyway- I have removed the leisure battery and disconnected the spilt charge relay as i thought this might have a fault. I have also removed the radio. No of this causes any change.

When I disconnected the wire shown in the picture this did reduce the draw significantly on the battery to about 1. Be grateful for any help or advice as to where that wire goes?

Many thanks, sorry I couldn't insert image into the post

If by 10.4 you mean 10.4A that is around the draw of a fridge element.

Thanks- Just realised that I have wasted about an hour, as I had the multi-meter on the wrong setting- when it is on the correct setting the draw is very low- I think the battery must be dead- as I charged it fully on the charger earlier today. I was just reading the voltage of the battery not the draw in amps-

Thanks for your help- next time I will check the setting is correct before I waste my time!

If you are reading 10.4v you have a knackered battery!
