Problems accessing the leisure battery

Post by MrRoberto »

Hi,

I've just bought my first T25.

So far so good, except I can't access the leisure battery.

It's located under the drivers seat, but the seat is a swivel base and I can't swivel far enough cos the steering wheel gets in the way!

Even as I type this it sounds a bit dumb but I honestly can't see how it's done.

Do I have to remove the seat to access the leisure battery?

Thanks!

Left hand or Right hand drive? Petrol or diesel?

It's usually the starter battery under the driver's seat, and leisure under the passenger or elsewhere. Are both starter and leisure under the driver??

Does the swivel base slide forward and backward on the original seat slider rails?

Pics will help

Hi,
If it is the same as mine, you have to slide the seat off the runners forward and remove it, then spin the seat base around 180 degrees and that should give you enough room to get the battery out. That's on a RHD Devon if it makes any difference.

Ours is under a pivoting seat too. I'ts a bit of a PITA as the seat base has to come off to get the battery out.
Are we going on anything else?

Its same on LHD and RHD. Push seat back as far as it will go, then slide forward onto 1st catch. There is a tiny lever at the back of the seat runner under where the squab meets the cushion just in front of the plastic cover that hides the hinge, lift this up and at same time lift the seat slide lever then slide seat forwards off the runners. Turn swivel base 180 degrees and you're in.

If it's a LHD Westy, or similar, then - yep - there's a knack...

Rotate the seat to 45deg, remove the little plastic tang that might be in the front of one runner, then just slide the seat all the way out of the runners. Then rotate the swivel so that it's back-to-front.
