Hi Guys,
Broke down a few miles away from home last night and after a two and half hour wait...RAC turned up and traced fault to Hall sender in distributor. But the guy suggested I would be able to get one this morning at euro car parts or gsf...no joy.
Has anyone got a spare in Newcastle or know where I can get one as I need to get van home. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks
Marcus

i had exacly same problem day before we went to france, ended up getting a 2nd hand distro from smashing vw in leeds, it was cheaper than a hall sender .

Hi guys,
Got a hall sender from Brickwerks...arrived on Tuesday and headed to recover the van. Was not as simple as rac man made out to change... Ended up having to get them back out as had limited tools to get the distributor pin out and get access to the sensor. Upshot is van failed to start....got towed to garage.
Despite coil being only a month or so old, they thought they traced fault to that... But no joy. They have auto electrician coming tomorrow... But they think it is ecu. Can you even get new ecu units or is it second hand for an mv engine? If anyone can point me in the direction of a thread on this would much appreciate it or any advice.
Thanks
Marcus
