fridge temp on gas

had my fridge (r m 212) running on gas today but it didn`t seem to get very cold.on 240v you can freez blocks in the ice box .how cold does it get and how long does it take to chill down ?

An hour or two. You probably have a blocked or partially blocked pilot jet.

looking through the pilot window in the lower left corner of the fridge the flame is burning nice and blue so don`t quite understand ?

has to be fairly level

definitely a blocked jet - i have had exactly same problem enduring a week of hot beer in hot france , this morning i tackled the problem - all that is required is a bit of common sense and a some brute strength to remove a fridge which has been in situ for the last 20 years - have never tackled this problem before but reading the threads on 80 -90 made it a simple job - just remember to ensure you dont poke anything down the jet to clean it - white spirit and a toothbrush worked for me!

That doesn't sound like a blocked jet though?

The flame is strong and it's all there as far as you can tell? How long did you leave it running on gas and was your outside flue vent cover warm whilst it was running?

Partially blocked and the flame is too small. Same issue I have had on two different fridges. Although using thinner etc didn't work and I ended up [/b]carefully[/b] using a very thin piece of fuse wire.

I took out my fridge to other night to replace the fan. Took less than 10 minutes.

i thought the flame looked a little small even though it looked nice and blue and the flu vent was warm ,which is why i`m a little confused

my westie has been suffering exactly the same symptons as yours - as my earlier post says i took the fridge out this morning, removed the jet, cleaned in white spirit, cleaned the extract pipe to the flue put it all back together and it now works perfectly - chilling down and even creating ice within 2 hours - having suffered with a fridge that doesnt work - i suggest you at least give it a go - 2 hours well spent and it worked for me!

looks like that's my Sunday morning sorted then,fridge out and clean the jet and anything else that looks dirty

Finally got my fridge working on gas and ice box was frozen in an hour and half.
If anyone is interested it was a partially blocked jet which i spotted using a strong magnifying glass and after blowing it through with a high pressure hose and cleaning the igniter and the thermo coupling as well as the flu and checking baffle in side the flu which to my surprise was like new.

I put it all back together and connected the gas then checked the gas joints I had disconnected to make sure there were no leaks .
the nice clean gas system lit on the second spark and the difference in the flame at the burner was before and after was huge, no wonder it didn't cool .the fridge too 90 mins to ice in the freezer box.
