Right considering the alternatives for my van paint job!

My reckoning is that a half decent spray would cost £2k what would I pay for VW original colours in Rustoleum (typically).

I'm looking to go two tone cornflower blue bottom white top. (comments upon how tough this could be would also be welcome)

Just started to prep my Commer PB , just wondering what grade wet and dry everyone is using to sand their van down with , im using 400g wet and dry but it doesn't seem to be doing much to the original paint work its still pretty glossy.
Do i need to get a coarser grade wet and dry, perhaps a grade 200 or even 150.

May need a rougher one yes but if its too rough you'll get deep grooves that will show in final paint finish unless you go back to 400 to get them out. You're not aiming for completely matt finish - just enough for new paint to get a bond to.

Looks like its too late for me. I was going to do my high top at the end of the month - I have a week off. But yesterday I came home and there was tree pollen floating about in the wind. Looks like the window of opportunity for a spring paint is already closing : )

I will have to keep an eye on it - but it looks like I will be driving a scruffy van all summer....doh!

I´m painting with the pollen. Where I live it goes from just above freezing in March/early April to rape seed pollen all over the place a couple of weeks later. If it´s raining the window is non-existant. I did the front of my van in last Sunday after spending the Saturday prepping it, and there´s no visible pollen in the paint. I was finished by 10am though so the wind hadn´t picked up. I`m using a dark colour but still nothing was visible.

Certainly in the UK, April is the best month, however once the tree pollen subsides you should get a window of opportunity but always start early before the bugs wake up!

Before I paint my van I want to get it flat and smooth.
To remove the little marks what filler should I use?
Normal p38 type filler is to thick.
(On the hot-rod tv programme they use bondo? What's the uk version?)

or even better that oilve oil
