Hi guys, does anyone know why the sliding door on my 89 camper opens itself when driving along
even if its locked. the door itself is fine, lined up nicely and works normally when stationary.
Would appreciate any suggestions, don't want to see the dog dissapearing down the road.

the lock has probably got wear in and/or splayed slightly, it shouldn't open completely, it is a 2 stage lock so it will pop slightly open on to the 2nd stage but it is worrying when it happens especially with kids or dogs in the back; dog should be secured just like a small human though, you don't want it flying into the cab in the event of an accident.
You can remove the lock and gently squeeze it in a vice so the jaws close slightly and refit and as long as the pin is at the correct height on the body it should be fine, if the pin isn't perfectly aligned so the lock is riding over it to achieve closed position then it will spread again and you will be back to it popping open. If the rear roller mechanism is worn or misalligned then you are relying on the pin to achieve correct closed position, you usually need a couple of people to check it in operation one outside to close the door and one to watch it happen closely from inside, watching for vertical movement. If you have the trim that covers the lock that was fitted to 'velles to prevent fingers getting trapped you will nedd to remove to observe the lock.
If there is significant wear then this won't fix it and you'll be looking for a replacement
hopefully JP group have them on the list to remanufacture but no idea if they will or when

Will take it apart, clean it up and give it a good coat of looking at. If all else fails I can always use a bungy strap.
