Foam for seat/bed

Post by rollercoaster »

So I did cut up an old foam mattress,
but maybe I could afford a new bit?

Anyone have some good experience,
or reputable source for me please..

Not used them myself. They are in Dorset and say they do campervan foam. https://www.fchancoxfoam.co.uk/foam-cut-to-size/

Try ringing a few upholsters.
Most would probably cut to size for DIY job.
Tried a few around my area and for the 3 pieces for my Autohomes bed (DIY) they all quoted aprox £220.
Some would reupholster completely, cost would be higher though 🤔
Now would be best time to buy as spring and summer is when they are bombarded by campervan re-upholstery requests.
Good luck :ok

Around these parts you'll sometimes find a place in your local indoor market that does PU foam in various grades and sizes. If you ask nicely they can get bits cut to order.

IIRC I ended up finding my local traders supplier which down the A6 near Preston somewhere. They get (or make ?) the stuff in various grades in massive chunks, and have cutting equipment to reduce it down to the thickness required for its various applications.

PS. That link from Rob is great, loads of info ! :ok
