thick bar behind seats - can i remove this?

Post by Shinnster »

Hi all,

I have a body work bar that is behind my seats and wondered if this is there for a reason? like to make it stronger?
It looks like its just to bolt my passenger seats too as they do not move in anyway.
i want to fit a single passenger seat and have a swivel base but if this has to stay then i'll rethink my plans.
its a twin slider if that makes a difference?
i was thinking just grinding it out completely.

Without that bar the double passenger seat will fall over backwards , it is not self supporting .
you can remove the bar , but you will have to revert to a single passenger seat ….

the bar is not structural to the van , it’s just for the double seat .
it may not even be welded in if the van didn’t have a double passenger seat from the factory .
