Are JustKamper swivel seat bases any good?

Post by ozzi_in_the_uk »

Hi All

Want to install some swivel seat bases. And my understanding is thathe Westafialia ones were the best. But their avaliabilty are few and far between these days. :-(

And I see justkampers do stock swivel bases, and I am totally comfortable with removing the old body seat rails etc if required. So I was wandering if anybody else has used them, and wonder how they rated?

Regards

Ozzi

We have one on the passenger side, Works well. I've nothing to compare it to though. You don't need to cut off the seat base runners or anything, just bolts in-between like a sandwich. Very solid

From the pics it is the Sportscraft bolt in swivel base.
They are made and sold since the 80s. The new ones have shorter T2 seat runners, so you may loose some seat movement with it.
Otherwise they are fine.

I fitted one to the passenger side about 7 years ago. It's a good solid base and swivels easily so I would recommend it. Two things to note:

1) I needed to drill a couple of holes to help with mounting - otherwise strightforward.
2) The plate will overhang the battery box behind the seat! I took the base plate to a local garage who cut out a recess so once fitted you could still access the battery box.

Hope it goes well. It's surprising how much difference swivelling the seat makes to the sense of space so definitely worth doing.

I would exactly the same with our installation and yes, completely agree with the difference in use of space.
