ajsimmo - If you think you could fix it - I'd certainly bring my T25 to Arran for you to look at and fix. I could climb some hills while I was there too. Great island

Do you think I need a new lock at the front of the sliding door, in addition to the latch at the back of the door?

Good answer!
I've emailed him to see what it costs.
I might get it, in case I do need it. The issues that I have had with my sliding door, there is every chance I need both the rear latch and the front lock!

You can't have too many spares for these vans.

Re: Sliding Door 1985 T25
You never enquired about the price, but then my email reply recommended checking, cleaning and lubricating everything first before throwing your money at something you may not need.
But then, I am a tight-wad and don't like spending money un-necessarily.

They are very needy and expensive.

That's fair enough, and a laudable approach. However, you've not been privy to our discussions regarding the problem - he's now way past the clean, lubricate, adjust stage.
E D I T: STOP PRESS!! This is just the front bit. My fault, thought it said the rear mechanism. As you were, guys.

Re: Sliding Door 1985 T25
I try to be honest and fair.
I will never be a millionaire, but money isn't everything unless selling parts is your livelihood.
On the other hand, I am a compulsive numpty and have often picked up a bargain, only to find that it is cheap for a reason, or it does not fit.
My last purchase which contained the lock was full of what appeared to be scrap handles and the like.
Thankfully the lock made up for the rest of the dross packed with it .
The lock falls into the does not fit category.

Re: Sliding Door 1985 T25
Just seen this post, and there's a great picture depicting the double latch arrangement I tried to describe. I think your hook is worn to the point it won't stay hooked. This can sometimes be repaired with a bit of accurate filing back to shape. Worth a try before you replace...
