Source for these plastic clips?

Post by carbonspork »

Hi There,

I'm looking to find these clips for the lower grill on my '85.  I thought I had found some on heritage parts centre but they ended up being about half the size of what I needed.  Does anyone know where I can get these?  I had also thought to just put nuts behind them, but the clearance in the grill basically only fits something exactly this shape.

Thanks,

Bill

Thanks, just ordered from there.  Cheaper from the classic parts site but they don't ship to Iceland :(

I wouldn't mind forwarding them to you if you get them sent to me and are willing to cover the postage.

If you get those eBay type, (same as stock I believe), don't use those plastic push pins to secure them- replace the centre thing with a suitable sized screw, so you can remove them easily. The push pins make them pretty much single use, unless you punch them through and search for the pin that flies out the back and promptly disappears !

I'll be honest, I didn't even know they were originally plastic pins instead of screws because the two that I still have holding mine on both have screws :)  I will probably do likewise from the advice you give.

I have just found some of these that I forgot I had. The pin does not push through the hole, it just snaps off and then leaves a hole for a screw.

The pin is meant to be pushed/bashed through (with a hammer type implement) to lock the legs in place. :)

I used to have some similar type components from injection moulds designed for an automotive supply company in Pontardawe Wales about 35 years ago.

I put some Rivnuts in the existing holes (M5 I think) so now I can 'screw' the grill on using those Black things as a washer (you need to break the tabs off).
