Just starting a restoration and unsure how far to go....

Im just about to start the restoration of my LLE. it is completely original at them moment but requires the bottom few inches all round sorting out which isnt an issue. however the donor van I have bought has a 1/3rd length factory metal sliding roof in working order. I have always liked the idea of these but not sure if it is the right thing to to.
The LLE has a perfect solid tin roof without holes etc..... would it be sacrilege to fit the sunroof roof on to the LLE?
really after opinions.
