Unable to remove drivers seat
I mentioned this in an earlier topic but the advice given appears not to apply to my seat as there is no safety release clip or v clip to allow the seat to be removed. The seat appears to sit on the normal runners, the lever to the left allows it to move forward and back the front lever allows the front of the seat to be lowered slightly. Any advice would be welcome.

Re: Unable to remove drivers seat
Put a picture up of the seat fully back so we can see the front of the runners ?

Thanks Steve, are these of any use.

Re: Unable to remove drivers seat
Looks like it has its own runners built into the seat and is actually bolted to the original runners.. Slide the seat all the way forward and undo the bolts and slide it all the way back and do the same.

Re: Unable to remove drivers seat
Thanks will have a look tomorrow, hopefully the bolts screw into the base without the involvement of a nut, unless the nut is a permanent fixture.

Re: Unable to remove drivers seat
If you were to "straighten out" those two crimps ( circled in blue) your seat would slide off the front I think
as for unbolting, I suspect that will be a 13mm (m8) nut that is just slid in the original runner , and it cannot turn because the runner size , so if you are gentle when you go to put the bolt back in it will just thread back on

Re: Unable to remove drivers seat
...and if not, just wedge a screwdriver alongside the nut to stop it turning when you undo the top bolt.

Re: Unable to remove drivers seat
Thanks again guys, good advice as normal, those crimps on the end of the runners do look a bit suspicious. Will have a try tomorrow and report back.

Re: Unable to remove drivers seat
I'd leave the crimps alone. I would think they are end stops, to stop the chair slidding off the runner.. You best bet is just to undo the bolts if someone managed to put the bolt there I don't see a problem you removing them..

Re: Unable to remove drivers seat
Going to have a good look at them crimps tomorrow to see if they are as you mentioned, probably go for the bolt method, the height of the seat sits a bit close to the steering wheel for my liking and it is a bit of a squeeze when initially getting into position, especially with the addition of the bean seat covers which explains I guess that it was added to the existing mountings.

Re: Unable to remove drivers seat
would it not be better to remove the original lower runner?

Re: Unable to remove drivers seat
It is easily reversible if the new seat is just bolted on.

Re: Unable to remove drivers seat
The OP said there's not much room between the steering wheel and the seat that was why I suggested it.

Re: Unable to remove drivers seat
Had a look today, the only way to remove the seat is to undo the 8 bolts and nuts fitted in the runner groove, two on each corner. Limited access but managed to work out that the 4 nearest the door can be unbolted as they go through the body and can be accessed under the wheel arch. The four on the other side will be a pain as the nuts sit in a high recess below the seat so would require an extension bar which I have. Dont think it worth removing the fitted runner as it is welded to the bodywork. Annoyingly when I move the seat forward and back I can hear it making contact with a stopper or the crimps pointed out by Mocki but not visible to me. With regards to distance between seat and steering wheel there is room to get in just a bit awkward at times. Not sure what the distance should be will have a look at other vehicles to compare.

Re: Unable to remove drivers seat
Have you thought about getting some standard seats - pop them straight onto the standard runners. it would reduce the height a tad and mean you are not sitting so close to the steering wheel. (and you can take them in and out in a few seconds if needed.
Drilling straight through and using nut and bolts sounds a bit 'erm' bodgy.
Could have easily made some captive fixings to go into the existing runners - would do away with the need to faff around with extension bars and under wheel arches!
