T4 seats t25 van

Post by cjtopman »

Hello everyone, we are total newbies to this, but very excited to be owners of a lovely orange t25 DEVON camper, 1981 air cooled without a spec of rust!
My partner and I are small people, and the previous owner installed all bells and whistles leather electric seats on swivel bases, a small momo steering wheel and Chucky merc alloys - it all makes for even heavier driving than needs be. We have the original steering wheel, so I need to fit closer to original seats to be able to fit it over legs (and also reach pedals comfortably....yes, that bad!!)
I’ve found a set of T4 1991 seat which would be perfect - seller told me the runners are 395mm apart which appears to be the same on the t25 by my measurements - can anyone advise if these will slot straight in or need further modification to fit?
I’m hoping this works out, then move on the posh seats, swivel bases and snazzy steering wheel to someone they suit!

Thanks in advance :-)

Get a picture of the runners underneath the seats, early t4 ones will slide straight in however you will likely have to remove one arm rest

They look identical to the reclining type of seats fitted to later South African buses. I'd say you are on safe ground.

how's that look?

They look fine , look like t25 seat bases, so early t4 seats , the runners that bolt to the van are still on the runners, they will slide out and you can slide them onto yours

I have early t4 seats in mine on swivel bases - so much more comfortable than the originals! A slight mod was done by the previous owner but just involves cutting off a small price to allow them to run smoothly, no additional welding etc needed.
