Grab handle for driver's side (right hand side)

Hi Everyone,

Just found this forum today. Hope you can help.

We've got a grab handle on the left hand side, but not on the right. I'd like to add one to the right (see images).

  1. Is this location called the 'A pillar'?
  2. What do I need to buy?
  3. Are the left hand and right-hand fittings different?
  4. Do I remove those plastic plugs, or drill into them.
  5. If I remove them, and there are holes underneath, how do I screw into them? Are they tight enough that I actually screw into the meal of the van? Or do I need to somehow get something behind the hole?
  6. Are the left and right different fittings, or the same fittings rotated differently?
I've done some searching, but I'm coming up with options overload, a  variety of prices, and just not sure what will work.

Here are some links that I've found ...

https://www.heritagepartscentre.com/uk/ ... black.html
(no fittings?)

https://campervanculture.com/shop/vw-t2 ... ab-handle/
(fittings only .. Really? £40 for fittings!?)

https://www.justkampers.com/search/resu ... Handle+t25
(expensive handle and cheaper fittings, but doesn't say left or right)

https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/spacer-bas ... black.html
(More spacers. Doesn't say left or right, and out of stock)

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Damian

The just campers spacers are B pillar and won’t be suitable for a pillar , brickwerks look
Correct,

I’ve got a used set if you have no luck

Yes you want the A pillar. The blanking plugs you have pull out, and there's the correct holes in the door frame. the brickworks link to the spacer is correct- but you need upper and lower ones (your link is just the upper). The screws are pretty stout self tappers that go through the handle, and the spacer, and into the door, which spread the spacers into the door and lock in. You need these correct screws too

Thanks for the quick responses.

With your help, I've just found a kit on eBay and ordered it.

Thanks again!
