swivel seat id and help
Wonder if anyone can help, found this for sale locally and looking to put it on the passenger seat on a LHD (original seats).
Couple of questions if anyone recognises this type
First, is this side specific? (I read on the forums that official VW ones aren't but nothing to say if this is an official VW or not)
Second, is the fitting straightforward and if so what are the steps? I'd love it if it were just remove the rails, bolt this in and put the rails on top but rarely are things that simple.. from a forum search seems to be welding involved in some.
Also I'm reading that the battery box is inaccessible with some, any thoughts on that
Any knowledge gratefully received!

Looks like the one I removed from an early Viking conversion years ago. Defo not VW!

Re: swivel seat id and help
cheers, that's good to know. Any ideas if they are side specific?

That looks very similar to the base i have recently fitted to my bus. It was advertised on Ebay as being removed from a VW LT. Not side specific and a doddle to fit once you have removed the original runners. Picture is the one i have fitted.

Re: swivel seat id and help
cheers hubcap,
That's really helpful and timely, and anything with the word doddle in it sounds promising!
Apparently the one I've seen is from a T25 Autosleeper, think I'll take a punt on it.
Once you got the existing runners removed did you bolt the base in? Any existing holes?
Much appreciated!

I drilled holes as required. I used countersunk bolts to secure my seats (Saab) to ensure the runners where free to move back and forth.

Re: swivel seat id and help
You can mount it directly into your runners but then you would need to source some runners ( I have some spare ) or just remove your runners fit the swivel band fit your runners to the swivel

Re: swivel seat id and help
Thanks for all the advice, makes sense. I removed the runners (bit of a chore, but mainly drilling out spot welds and some leverage), then a friend with a welder attached them to the swivel base (that way keeping the runners clear) and we bolted the whole thing back in.
Agree, I could have gone for another pair of runners for the swivel base and kept the originals in place, it would have had the advantage of saving some time and keep the option of making the whole thing able to be removed/replaced. Only just saw your post though! Guess on the flip side it would make the passenger seat a few cm higher than the drivers (not major but at 6ft 2 a small consideration).
Anyway, thanks to the help on here we got it swivelling nicely and it is safe so all boxes ticked!
Cheers,
Ian

@hubcap61
looking at your pics again interested to see you still have the lid from the box sitting there, did you cut it down to make it fit or make another?
Cheers,
Ian
