Range Rover P38 seats - fitting to T25

Post by mhowood »

I've just taken delivery of a pair of manual Range Rover P38 front seats to fit to my T25 (see photo).
Current VW set up has a captain's chair swivel base on the passenger seat, so that'll be the seat I change first.

Any tips or past experience's to share?  :idea
If I struggle, I've heard swapping out the VW for seat runners off eBay is a good idea.

Additionally, I'll be looking to sell my VW seats (pictured). They're in good condition but don't know what to charge (For Sale section requires price). Any idea of the going rate?

Range Rover P38 seats - fitting to T25

Well it’s not going as smoothly as I hoped. After a fruitless hour with a drill, I’ve not been able to shift the rivets for the ‘height adjuster bits’.

Seat is now with a local metalworks to see if they can shift them.
My plan is bolt either L plate or mount a length of 90mm mild steel across the base, and then add universal runners.

Update #2
RR runners are off. Unfortunately the welder paled when I suggested removing all the rivets from them, so have opted for universal runners from eBay.
Cost so far:
Seats £90
Metalwork £70
2 x runners £45

Current cab view.
It would have been great to stick with the original VW runners but on the T25 they’re integral to the seats, so was unable to remove.
Maybe a little more research, or rooting around in a breakers yard would have helped.

Finished fitting seats. Bit of a faff but totally worth it!

I know this is an old topic, but would you be able to keep the swivel base? or was that sacrificed?

The runners bolt to the original seats with a socket screw each end?
